Who is Per Gessle ? Per Gessle is the front-man from Swedish supergroup Roxette. One of the most successful Swedish artists ever and one of the world's leading vocalists. He is the mastermind behind the mellow and rocking voice, catchy hooks and infectious lyrics of Roxette! With such a famous band, his songs have reached the top of many famous charts around the world, including the Billboard charts. Per taking lead vocals and Marie Fredriksson singing background has been the perfect blend for smash hits like 'The Look', 'Joyride', 'A Thing About You', 'June Afternoon' or the amazing and timeless 'Vulnerable' . His gravelly, rock-n-roll-ready voice is a classic on the rocking upbeat songs, and at the same time his silky smooth vocals on the ballads colour every tune he writes! His incredible singing ability is present on every song indeed!
With his characteristic gravelly vocals, he has conquered the heart of many people around the world. Gessle is known for his deep, distinctive bass-baritone voice. He has a deep, husky, gravelly voice combined with his own outstanding drawing, charismatic style of singing, as smooth as anything, and very rich indeed. When listening to him you almost can’t tell if he’s singing high or low, that’s how flawless his voice is.... His booming deep bass voice is surely one of the most recognizable in pop music history. He always shines with his luscious vocal harmonies. Curiously he has a lot of bass and gravel in his voice. His simple words, a husky voice and a distinctive personality enrich every song he writes. While his vocal range is fairly limited, it is incredibly effective at conveying the plight of the common man. The live album.....
The Roxette and solo selection in this live album is great. Fortunately, it has one of my favourite ballads: 'Late Later On'. This is just one of those songs that makes you fall in love with his engaging and out of this world ballads. Although he also has many pop and upbeat songs, his vocals on these kind of songs are completely angelic and fragile, yet flawless. Gessle has such an unequalled raspy voice that he does so wonderful on all the songs he performs. His voice is great and really shines on every song he performs. He really does have that gruff voice that sticks to your ribs! This album will make up your day for sure!
